I think restrooms that have high doors that make it easy to beat the ban, or a membership card for a $1.00 that is only given to adults that makes the bar private and beats the law. I can say that I have never spent money in a non-smoking bar and will not.

We believe that people are well aware of the health risk in volved when entering a smoking establishment. 90% of our business comes from smokers and we would rather have them in our establishment so we do not have to close the doors. As a business paying a lot of tax and liscensing fees we should be able to say we permit smoking in our establishment–if you are worried about the health effects you should probably not enter.

The smoking ban affects both businesses and their customers. Isn’t the smoking ban one sided (anti-smoking advocates are happy that there is a ban).

The tobacco industry didn’t force people to smoke. And the establishments didn’t force non-smokers to go into their businesses where smokers are.

They should relax the ban on some businesses (bars and nightclubs, hotel rooms, etc). This is not about whos right or wrong, it’s about equality.

Non-smokers and smokers both have rights to their personal choices.

I live in Tennessee and our smoking ban comes into effect on October 1st of 2007, that is this Monday.
I have read that there are people who believe it is an attempt to legislate morality. In my opinion it would only be an attempt to legislate morality if it was an all encompassing ban on smoking like during the prohibition of alcohol. Since it doesn’t ban smoking outdoors or in ones own private spaces then it is only an attempt to preserve overall public health rather than an attempt to create a moral edict. What are your thoughts?
By the way I’m a non-smoker.

I understand the ban in restaurants and family environments…however I think banning smoking in bars and casinos where they promote getting hammered as heck doesnt make much since…maybe thats because I like to smoke when i drink. In Ohio they are even banning smoking in trucks that are not owned by truck drivers……what ever happened to the War On Drugs or Poverty that we still seem to be losing?
