try to make her understand that the feeling may feel great, but the effects are not. its hard quitting cigarettes though, trust me you would know cause we know each other lol. try convincing your mom to replace the smoking habit with something else - it could be from drinking more tea, to knitting, etc. i replaced smoking with sprite and that got me quitting after like a month.

if i had a homie who smoked, i would be like who the **** is gonna be my best man . but since shes your mom and been smoking for 5 years tell her you need her in your life longer, and if she smokes your wedding might never happen. know what i mean?

try getting your aunt, uncle, step dad etc to talk to her with you.
look for a few websites and show her the bad things bout smoking and reason why to quit.

Sounds like she's in the pre-contemplation phase of quitting. You can read the whole article from the aafp here:

The key in pre-contemplation is that you need to remind her about the short-term (yellow teeth, bad breath, money) and the long-term (cancer, COPD, heart problems) consequences and wait for her to come around. Trying to get her to quit right now is not too effective until she decides she's ready.

Ricky, there is nothing you can do. She has to want to stop before anything can be done. Maybe you could swing by the hospital and pick up some flyer's on the effects of smoking and place them where she is guaranteed to see them. She may have to go the distance before thinking about quitting, meaning affecting her health. Good luck!

People have to stop when their read and when they want too. I quit meth, heroin, cocaine and cigarettes all on my own and when I was ready too. I must say cigarettes was harder to stop then all the drugs I use to do
