jules.h08 asked:
Last night i was out with my husband for dinner and drinks and someone was smoking this “health cigarette” at the bar. (that’s what he called it) The bartender asked him to please not smoke it at the bar because it does still let of an odor and other people have complained in the past.
what are your thoughts on this?
Should he be able to smoke it at the bar or no?
I just want to know if other people thought what i did.
also I myself am a smoker if that helps you answer.
Thanks for all your opinions =)
I was just curious to see what other peoples views were on this.
My husband and I agreed with the bartender. The guy was asked not to do it before on more than one occasion so don’t do it. I just think no smoking means no smoking of any kind even if it is a “vapor” or “mist” and not “smoke” it was inhaled and exhaled like a cigarette, looked like a cigarette and it had an odor.

Electric cigarettes do not emit the harmful secondhand smoke chemicals that burning results in. The smoke is typically made from proopylene glycol to simulate smoke and make it feel more authentic to the user… but is in no way harmful to anyone else.
So yes, he should be allowed to do so.
I just want to know what an electric cig is……………..
No smoking means no smoking, regardless of what it is.
No he should not be able to smoke it. No smoking means no smoking.*
No. Smoking is smoking, whether it is an herbal cigarette or electric cigarette or not. It is still a cigarette that emits an odor from ‘smoke’ and the probibition is on smoking, not on what is being smoked. In all due honesty, it seems awfully desperate for one to need the habit so bad that they would use an electric cigarette for heaven’s sake. It surely is time to quit.
The whole point of banning smoking in public places was to protect people from harmfull second hand smoke. If this electric *** does not give off harmfull smoke then there is no problem.
yes he should be able to smoke, that is one of the bonuses of electric cigarettes, you can even smoke them on a airplane but if you do without seeking permission be prepared to be disqualified from flying.
it doesnt let off an odor.
he was wrong, and doesnt know what he was talking about.
its a typ of ciggerette that you can inhale from, and get a kick of menthol from, but when you blow out, its purely water vapor.
no chemicals, no nothing.
ive seen them talked about at afew different places lately, and there main reason for existing is to smoke them indoors.
they are also completely safe to smoke around newborns.
so if THATS safe to do with them,
idk what type of odor he was smelling but it couldnt have been from these. People probably overreacted and just thought they smelt something because of the meer fact that they SAW one. like a placebo effect sorta…..they just wanted to complain so he’d stop, because they didnt realize that this ciggerette does nothing for the people around you.
so yes, i think it was perfectly okay.
You keep saying “Smoke”.
Here’s you question I’m using it as a quote “Should he be able to smoke it at the bar or no?” . You state that it is “smoke” you never say it isn’t. You say it is a Healthy cigarette but the Surgeon General states there is no such thing, big tobacco says there is no such thing. He was told that he cannot use it in a privately owned establishment by the owner’s representative sooo No he can not do it in a Non-smoking bar, done deal.
If an establishment is “non-smoking” that means no smoking of any kind, ever. If you can’t go for an hour or two without smoking then you probably shouldn’t be hanging out at “non-smoking” establishments in the first place.
According the the law in my state (NY), the smoking ban in public places (including bars & restaurants) defines smoking, as the burning of tobacco products. Burning an herbal or cabbage cigarette in a public place violates no law in my state because no tobacco was burned. Inhaling & exhaling water vapor & flavorings like used in children’s candy & cough drops such as are used in electronic cigarettes, which burn nothing should be permitted.
Exhale onto a window or mirror & it will cloud up because you exhale water vapor anyway… without the use of an e-cigarette. Popular flavors include cherry, vanilla, watermelon, & chocolate. So if people don’t like them they’ll have to ban candy, & ice cream too, which contain the same additives & scents. Some of the drinks at the bar & food in the restaurant contain the same stuff too.
You’ll see this controversy increase dramatically as the federal tax just recently went up a lot on tobacco. These e-cigarettes are more affordable by comparison now, so smokers are trying & switching to e-cigarettes recently in alarming numbers… Suppliers, can’t keep up with the sudden demand.
Some e-cigarettes look like pens instead (usually black or silver). These would certainly be better than shoving something in your mouth that looks like a cigarette in a public place.
What about all those inhalers used for colds & other medical conditions? Should they be banned because they’re inhaling “mist” that others might smell?
Nothing is burned in an e-cigarette. There is no smoke, & the user is not smoking. There is no smoking involved in using an e-cigarette. It’s water vapor & common food or candy flavorings. Some do imitate the flavor of cigarettes or menthol too, but those aren’t the most popular flavors.
A cigarette smoker who just switched to e-cigarettes usually will go to cigarette flavors at first, but soon go for regular food & candy flavors after a short time, because they eventually enjoy them more.
