I quit cold turkey the day I found out I was pregnant, it was hard, but it was easier than trying to quit previously because anytime I had a craving for a smoke, I just repeated to myself that smoking was no longer just affecting my health but my baby's. Honestly that was enough motivation for me, I didn't sneak even a puff for nine months. I did start again about two months after I had my son, so I'm trying to quit again. Also, just try to avoid any situations where people around you are smoking (if you can) Goodluck!

It wasnt too hard fo rme to quit (not bragging here, just keep reading...) because I had terrible morning sickness. PLUS my hubby quit too. Well AFTER he was born I started again and quit again and started again and now I have quit agin (since 7-06). I STILL like the lozenges, I know i need to quit that now!!! UGH! BUT if you are pregnant and having a really hard time I would say try lozenges. I know docs dont like that because of the nictine but its better than a smoke!! GOOD LUCK!

Just do it!

Don't smoke when you wake up, after you eat, or in the car.
Make a conscious effort to smoke less cigarettes everyday until you smoke none at all.
Remind yourself constantly how important your baby is.

I too was a smoker when I found out I was pregnant. Not sure if your baby's father is also a smoker, but it REALLY helps when he stops with you. That way you're not the only one who feels limited in what you can and cannot do with your "new" body. Take care in knowing that it does get so much easier right around 3 weeks to a month. So don't look at it as "I'm quitting forever". Look at it as "I'll feel better in three weeks". Eventually, the smell will get gross, then you won't even crave a cig when you see someone else smoking... little leaps as you progress really improve your outlook. I smoked for four years and LOVED it. Now I see someone smoking and I find it truly disgusting.

I was considered the least likely to succeed at quitting smoking. I smoked a LOT or a very LONG time!
As smoking became less acceptable in public places I decided to make myself WANT to be a non-smoker.
I did it. That was over ten years ago.
I worked on the mental preparation for over a year- building a strong desire, and getting up a mental list of all the reasons for smoking compared to all the reasons for not smoking.
I was determined to not spend a single penny on someone with a gimmik or medication to "help" me quit.
I think my personal method was to use the strongest things that nature gave me: my emotions- ALL of them!
The saddest thing about my success in this is that I cannot help my family members quit. They just are too damned dumb to do it.
I wish you all success- JUST DO IT!
